Surrounding yourself with positive people is an excellent way of overcoming stress. Studies have shown that it’s the five people we spend the most time with who have the biggest effect on our lives and well being. Try to make sure the people around you are positive, optimistic folk and you will become the same as well. Try this exercise daily for at least a week and you will find yourself automatically thinking and behaving more positively. Using humor is a good way of overcoming stress. Allow yourself to laugh or see the funny side of a stressful situation. Aim for at least one good belly laugh a day. In addition, lead a healthy lifestyle. You should exercise at least three times a week to boost positive brain power and eat a healthy diet. Even if you walk briskly for just thirty minutes a day, you will find yourself healthier and improving your ability in overcoming stress.

Some easy steps to follow that will help you be more optimistic are checking yourself throughout the day to stop what you are doing and ask yourself if you are thinking and behaving positively or negatively.
